Our Staff
St. Michael’s School is staffed by certified, licensed teachers who continue to grow in knowledge through continuing education in their field. Teachers willingly share ideas and support each other to develop the whole child.
St. Michael’s School curriculum is aligned to the Minnesota State Standards and includes Reading, English, Spelling, Phonics, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Music, Art, Technology, and Religion.
Because of the excellent rapport between students, teachers, and administrators and parents, the atmosphere if the school is warm and friendly. Students can be seen helping each other during academic lessons as well as on the playground.
Tina Penner
Development Director & School Secretary
Tina started working at St. Michael’s School in 2012 as the School Secretary. She loves teaching music to our Pre-K through 6th grades, and working with the many families that come through our doors each day. In 2021 she took on the role of Development Director for the School and both St. Michael's and St. Joseph's Parishes.
Mara Felland
Parish & School Bookkeeper
Mara started working for St. Michael’s Parish and School in June of 2024 as the bookkeeper.
Her and her husband, Seth moved to the Mahnomen area in 2017, and have one son.
Mara loves numbers and the challenges that comes with them, its like solving a puzzle every day.
Loren Zimmel
Parish & School Custodian
Loren started working for St. Michael’s in 2016. He is married to Shelly and has 2 children and 6 grandchildren. Loren loves to fish and spending time with his family.

Kristi Dormanen
Kristi Dormanen started cooking at St. Michael's School in 2024 after a brief hiatus to have 2 more beautiful daughters! She and her husband, Kyle, farm in Beaulieu township and have 3 girls. We love her delicious food and her wonderful personality! ​
